Go Kart engine – carted for less!

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Adrian needed to send a Go Kart Engine as cheaply as possible from Plymouth to Basildon.

He simply uploaded the item details onto stuff2send for a competitive delivery offer.

Shortly he received offers and agreed a delivery charge of £10!

The carrier provided a very good service, collected the item at the agreed time and delivered it promptly and safely to Basildon.

Another item sent!  That may be a service hard to beat….

Andrew Saved a Day’s Work and £200 – By Using Stuff2Send.com

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Andrew is a property developer in South London.

With pressure on costs he tries to source as much material as he can from reclamation sites, auctions and so on.

A lovely spiral staircase was too good a bargain to miss for the outdoor stairs on his 4 floor flat conversion…….but they were in Northumberland….that’s a long way from London.

Now he needed a cheap courier or parcel delivery service that covered the UK.

Having got quotes from several couriers and courier delivery companies, and a quote to hire a van for a day (or two!),  Andrew was facing greater costs to get the staircase delivered than it cost! Which would knock a great hole in the saving’s he’d made in finding such a bargain in the first place!

A quick online search  for large parcel delivery suggested www.stuff2send.com…and MickY….a private courier in Newcastle…..came to the rescue.

Micky gave a great courier delivery service - he picked up the staircase (and also a boiler!) and delivered them to London, in his estate car.

A real personal service, always on the phone and delivered door to door.

Andrew saved costs on delivery service, used a local courier to deliver a large item and didn’t have to take a day off work.

A win-win for everyone…and a great story to highlight that out there, for the 33m drivers in the UK,  there’s room for everyone to help others out deliveirng stuff as you drive about.

Go on, deliver something along the way, and earn some cash for your fuel costs

Amanda’s Story…

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Amanda Webster, who lives in Birmingham, used stuff2send.com in February this year. A friend suggested she try the site after hearing about it on Radio 2’s Chris Evans show.

Earlier this year, Amanda had her wheelchair stolen. However, thanks to a website called preloved.co.uk, she’d found two replacements. And at a very reasonable price!

The problem? The chairs belonged to a lady in Manchester who was also mobility impaired. How to get them from Manchester to Birmingham?

Amanda was not comfortable driving to collect them, and looked into the option of having them couriered. Sadly, the cheapest quote she received was £200…more than twice the price of the two chairs!

So she took her friend’’s advice and turned to stuff2send.com. She soon received an offer from a man in Stoke, for £20, which she eagerly accepted.

He regularly drove between Manchester and Birmingham, so the delivery hardly took him out of his way. Amanda made sure she was comfortable with the arrangements, calling him on his home and mobile numbers to confirm details and clarify everything.

On the day of the delivery, despite the snow on the streets, Amanda’s delivery, scheduled to arrrive at 11.00 am, arrived at 10.45 am.

“To have brought them right to the door was just wonderful, “said Amanda. “It made life so much easier, knowing I didn’t have to do that journey myself. I’d definetly use the site again; I think it’s a wonderful service.”

It’s What You’ve Asked For.

Stuff2Send tips white van man to make money and cut CO2

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

New guidance for couriers on greener van purchase and use called Right Van Man contains useful tips, but doesn’t go far enough on making the best use of load space.

That’s the view from Stuff2Send.com, the service that connects packages and parcels with delivery drivers travelling close to their destination. Site founder Colin Hay says the web service can cut unnecessary journeys – and therefore emissions – while helping couriers make extra cash in the process.

Right Van Man” is a good guide, with some useful environmental tips,” he said. “But we think it misses a trick on running empty. This represents a huge drain on resources for couriers, particularly those travelling long distances, but it also creates unnecessary emissions that sites like Stuff2Send can prevent.”

Right Van Man was produced by the SMMT jointly with the VCA and DfT, and will be promoted through the ActOnCO2 campaign. It was launched today (26 February 2009) in London.

“We’ve written to ActOnCO2 advising them of the benefits our service offers to the environment, and asked for a meeting,” added Hay. With the right support and promotion, Stuff2Send offers real potential to deliver significantly fewer CO2 emissions from road transport.”

Stuff2send.com was launched in December 2008. Since launch more than 1,000 delivery drivers and senders have signed up to the service.

BigJokeBook

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Comic Relief is coming soon………….

…maybe this year, with the economy and news being as they are, we all need a bit of a laugh.

…and to remember those who really are less fortunate than most of us.

So stuff2send.com has decided to support BigJokeBook. A great way to share a laugh with thousands of others, brighten up someone’s day, and raise a little bit of money to help others. £1 is not much, but from a lot of people, can add up to changing someone’s life.

So as we all listen to the news, in amazement, and wonder if a bit of snow really is really as “Terrible” as they say, lets remember what matters….and spare a thought for those who really are up against it.

Pass the Parcel…

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

…and save money.

White van drivers now make up 10% of road traffic, according to recent figures, with about 3.3 million vans on the road. And the growth is being helped by both online shopping and an increase in ”recycling”  (ebay, freecycle, swapz etc).

White van drivers no longer have to rely just on business coming to them; using stuff2send, at very low cost, they can bid on items all over the country, opening up massive opportunities for them.

In addition, any driver can also use stuff2send to bid for items on journeys they’re already going to do, taking a small contribution to their fuel costs.

How does this help?

People sending items that are heavy, oversize, or can’t afford a parcel courier company, can now save costs on packaging and sending, by using stuff2send, and broadcasting their items to the growing number of drivers on the site. They get a better deal and save costs, and drivers get some extra cash in the pocket.

Better for everyone….and it’s greener too…… it helps cut down on excess road traffic, making better use of existing journeys.
